SENIOR LEAD PASTOR

Pastor Richard is the founding and senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Monrovia. He teaches multiple services during the week and can also be heard on the Los Angeles Radio Station KKLA.

Pastor Richard desires to teach the Bible’s message of God’s great love and truth expressed in Jesus Christ. He desires to lead and encourage others in their relationship with Jesus and to equip their lives for the good purpose and plan God has for each one.

Pastor Richard grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and came to know Christ as a teenager in High School. After graduating college, he went into his family’s business where he worked with his father and two brothers for over twenty years.

During his business career the Lord began to draw Pastor Richard’s heart towards ministry. In response to the Lord’s calling and while working and raising his family, he attended the Bible Ministry School at Calvary Chapel La Mirada where he would also become the Worship Pastor and one of the teachers at the Bible Ministry School.

In time the Lord began to stir a desire in Pastor Richard’s heart to plant a church and with the help and blessing of Calvary Chapel La Mirada, a small fellowship was started in the city of Monrovia. As the fellowship grew Pastor Richard eventually transitioned into full time ministry to the church which is now Calvary Chapel Monrovia.

Pastor Richard met his wife Toni in the Jr. High Choir at the public school they both attended in Hacienda Heights. Music, especially worship, have been a part of their lives and family from the beginning. They were married in 1983 and have four grown children: Jenni, Jessica, Tyler and Scott.

In addition to ministry, Pastor Richard enjoys sports, golf, guitar, family and his five grandchildren, Evie, Jude, Liam, Ryder and Maisy.
